The uniqueness of human beings

Ray 2#. The uniqueness of Human Beings. And the freedom of choice.

Human Beings. 
That is what we are. Human Beings.
And isn`t that unique? Creatures, always being something. Happy, sad, determined, cheerful, irritated, determined... The list ist endless.

Animals, like lions, are beings too.
But we don`t say: lion being or animal being.
That is because a lion doesn't choose or invent his being. 

Humans can and do. Although they are not always aware of the possibility of choice.

A lion doesn't choose to be patient, compassionate, friendly or joyful.

A lion being aggressive?  Yes. 
And being tender as well, with the cubs. And there are a few more possibilities of being.
These beings come naturally, instinctively and are not a result of choice.

Back to Human Being:
`Being` comes from 'to be'.
And `to be`is the verb of creation.

It is used in the bible: `Let there be Light`!
Stating something can create it.

It is the same with our being. 
A few come naturally, instinctively, like in a lion.
But we have a lot more options. We can choose, create and invent infinite ways of being.

Human being can come into being, can be awakened by inventing and naming it.

Could saying `I am excited' make me be excited?
Could saying `I am patient or calm' make me be patient or calm?
Could saying 'I am compassionate', help me be compassionate?
Could saying 'I love you ', make me feel love?

I think it can.

So what do you think? What determines your being today?

The universe?
The cirumstances?

Ray 9#. Does it work or does it not work? That`s the question. To stop thinking and talking in terms of `Right` and `Wrong` is not easy at all. We have been drenched in this destructive conversation since we were born.  It`s like trying to nod while you say `no` or shaking your head while saying `yes`. Going against an automaticity. Not impossible, but difficult in the beginning. That`s why is is so helpul to do the Landmark Forum.  For three whole days and an evening you`ll be drenched in a new conversation. A conversation  that says that nothing is wrong,  A conversation in which we stop looking for right and wrong. Instead, we distinguish without judgement what doesn`t work in our lives, jobs or relationships.  We practice looking for things that work. We give up fighting against what we don`t like and can't change.  We accept reality as it is. It is like Socrates said: -`The Secret of Change is to Focus All of Your Energy. Not on Fighting...

Ray 8# A new Future.  No more right or wrong. Accepting reality. Being free.                          Life in itself has no meaning. What? Life in itself is empty and meaningless. Excuse me!!? Ray 7#  Human Beings are Story Inventors. After nature, our stories start to dictate our being.  Only would we know we created our stories ourselves... Only would we know we have believe our stories as if they were true. Giving those storied up, allowing the reality that what you have believed in all your life is not The truth, takes courage. The moment we are born, we are helpless creatures, totally depending on our parents. The way to communicate about our needs is to make noise, cry and scream. There is no choice in any being at all. Nature, instinct dictates our being and survival is the theme. Around two years old we discover language. The world around us is getting meaning by naming everything. We learn to communicate by language. We cry and scream less and less and ask for what we need. Later on we will learn to debate and even manipulate through language. And we start building the story of who we are. Events that happen, things, painful words that parents...
