To choose or not to choose? That is the question.
Ray #5. So do I have the power to choose what way I am being in any situation?
Can I always choose to be friendly, angry, loyal, calm, or any other way of being?
Yes, I think I can. Though it may not seem to be possible always. Or even desirable.
But very often, I'm convinced we have a say over our being.
It is common to get angry when someone is yelling at you.
But it is possible to be calm under those circumstances as well.
It is common to be irritated when someone is bossing me around.
But I can also be clear about what I need to do and tell the other one to go take a hike with a smile on my face.
It is common to be cranky after a broken night,
But one can get himself together, take a deep breath and be friendly to a customer.
These are day to day situations, especially at work, where we know we can choose who we are, who and what we are being.
Up to a certain level?
Who knows?
It gets harder at home.....
With a partner who always leaves his shoes lingering around.
With kids who ask for attention at the most impossible moments.
With myself having forgotten in the supermarket that one crucial ingredient for the dinner tonight...
Can I choose to be calm and friendly then if I would like?
And you may wonder as well what is in the way of being the person you'd want to be.
But that is another question. We'll get back to that.
First there is this crucial, hot question:
Because that would make a huge difference in my life and my relationships.
Sometimes my being is just there and that is totally human and fine.
Sometimes I have no say about who I am being and there is nothing to choose.
You want to know why?

Or is being irritated, annoyed and angry just there? Or is that what I choose?
Which, I think, is perfectly fine by the way, if that is what you want to be.
The fun of choosing is that we are free to choose, isn't it?
No right or wrong.

You might wonder what kind of being gives you the outcome you want, or what kind of being works best for your relationship...

`Can I always choose to be anything: friendly, agressive, light, rational, loving, joyful or any other possibility of being under any circumstances?`
